The designer, Penelope Chilvers, worked as an artist in Spain before branching out into interiors and textiles. She then formed a close relationship with local Spanish craftsmen specialising in wood, leather, and textiles. It was then that she then had the brainwave of bringing the classic spanish riding boot to the wider world as a fashion statement.
With the help of the Spanish local artismen, she made her vision a reality.
When I am designing I think about women’s lifestyles: an evening ride on a farm in Kenya or a walk on the beach on Long Island or in Scotland – far away, beautiful places, where people lead lives of comfort and elegance, I find that people from all over the world want to buy my designs at different times of year.
